3 Ways To Be More Confident When Heading Into A Job Interview
You have lined up a job interview. Congratulations!!! The only problem is that you are seriously nervous. The feelings of self-doubt are rushing over you. You are anything but confident. AHHHHHH!!!!

Don’t worry, there are 3 simple things you can do to help you feel more confident and kick those nerves and self-doubt to the curb.
1 – Breathe
One simple breathing technique to help you feel calmer is called equal breathing. You inhale for a count of four, and then exhale for a count of four. You do this through the nose. Once you get better at this you can aim for six to eight counts per breath. This is proven by Brown RP, Gerbarg PL. Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences to calm the nervous system, increase focus, and reduce stress. Awesome!
2 – Prepare and Practice
Proper preparation promotes perfect performance. The more prepared you feel the more likely it is that you will perform better. This is something that I have seen in practice from the interviewers chair. When candidates come to interview knowing that they have prepared good answers and completed research they usually do a better job. There is nothing worse than interviewing a candidate that has no idea what the company does or gives answers that are not well thought through.
3 – Think Positive
“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” When Henry Ford said this now famous quote he was saying that positive thoughts and self confidence are powerful things. If you head to your job interview thinking that you are going to nail it then you will likely have a great interview.
The next job interview you have remember to breathe, prepare and practice and to keep your thoughts positive. This will set you up for success and give you the best chance to land that great new job.
